How to create a beautiful dessert table
I’m a huge fan of dessert tables, not just because I am addicted to sugar but because of what they add to a party. I believe every party deserves to have one, whether it’s a small setup with cupcakes and treats to a large, over-the-top presentation designed for a larger event.
Today, I’d like to focus on a table I designed for a bridal shower and tell you how you can design one yourself and make it your own.
This Bridal Shower Dessert Table was inspired by beautiful spring colors and can also be used for Mother’s Day, a Sunday Brunch, and much more. The colors I used to create my dessert table are mint, pink, gold, yellow, and white. Stick with colors that evoke the emotion you would like to receive from your guests. If you are going for a certain theme, add a few touches of it such as colors and props to your dessert table so that it coordinates with the rest of your décor.
Speaking of décor, paper flowers are huge now and were the perfect addition to my own design. The first thing I added was the paper-flower table banner that designer Gwen Bailey made especially for this event. I’m truly in love with her designs, so much so that I had her to create some in different colors so I could use them for other events. I also added her custom paper-flower medallions to use on the backdrop along with decorative fans. Last but not least, Gwen created the Love Is Sweet sign for my display. You can have one created specifically for your theme or celebration.
Now for desserts! Did I mention I love desserts? For this table, I decided to go with pretty pastel treats (lemon-cake bites) and one beautiful cake for the centerpiece. I’m a fan of naked cakes. Naked cakes are also known as unfrosted cakes—they add a unique elegance and can be adorned with beautiful flowers or fruit to create a whimsical or romantic topper. This beautiful cake was made by Angel Cakes Bakery.
